The fourth week of June was kind of full on for everybody at
2Faced Dance Company and for the hr1 project.
The Courtyard Arts Centre was inundated all week by no less than 400
dance students each night. Children,
teenagers, the youth company and the professional company, performed at FRESH
(the only schools platform in Herefordshire) and DETONATE, 2Faced Dance
Company's annual show featuring performers from 2Faced Dance Company’s
community classes. It's an understatement
to say that it was a little bit crazy, but it all went very well, with parents,
friends and patrons of the Courtyard coming along to support the performances
and the work of the next generation of dancers.
The Main Company had
the chance to perform a short extract of each piece of our current production,
In The Dust (triple bill), at the end of each night. It was really exciting and refreshing to
perform the work on stage in front of an audience after having worked only in
the studio rehearsing for the last couple of months. I, personally, was really impressed by the
work, the skills and the commitment of 2Faced Youth Company. I thought they
performed brilliantly and with *gusto.*
On Tuesday, we had
fun performing an extract from 7.0 choreographed by Tamsin Fitzgerald, which is
one of the works featured in the In the Dust triple bill, for the West Midlands
Business Awards that took place at the Town Hall in Birmingham..
Back to the hr1
project this week for the launch of the project at the Castle House Hotel
followed by Saturday’s danceMash day in Hereford. I got to dance a funny duet
with Luke Jessop on a platform at the train station and we joined a big flash
mob in High Town as well as performing an extract from In the Dust twice in the
High Town outdoor showcases. It was
fantastic to see so many Herefordians enjoying dance and participating in the
Flash Mob.
*to sum up: a busy, fun and exciting week.*
Bisous
Johnny
